Ready to shine? Get your ExtremeLine products ready for the summer season now

With the arrival of the first warm days, the peak season begins for many patios, sunrooms, dining areas, and outdoor lounges. To ensure that your equipment functions reliably and maintains its high-quality appearance over time, we recommend regularly checking your ExtremeLine products.

Whether it’s infrared heaters, LED lighting, AirSlide sliding roof windows, or the AquaTube downspout system—with just a little effort, you can extend their service life, maintain their functionality, and, of course, improve their appearance.

What you need for maintenance/cleaning:

1. A soft cloth to prevent scratches

2. A broom to remove dust and pollen

3. Just warm water and glass cleaner

4. A sponge or microfiber duster

Both specialty retailers and end customers benefit from regular care and maintenance, because clean and well-maintained products operate more efficiently and remain in working order over the long term.

Cleaning and Maintaining Infrared Heaters – For Maximum Performance

ExtremeLine infrared heaters generally require very little maintenance. However, regular cleaning is recommended to maintain full heating performance and avoid unnecessary energy consumption. Over time, dust, pollen, insect remains, or grease deposits can accumulate on the housing, the reflector, or the heating element. Even a small amount of dirt can impair heat output.

Clean the device with a standard glass cleaner before using it for the first time and at regular intervals thereafter. Remove dust, cobwebs, and other debris, as these can pose a fire hazard. Use a damp, lint-free cloth for cleaning and make sure that no cleaning agent residue remains on the unit. Before each cleaning, the radiant heater must be allowed to cool for at least one hour and must be completely de-energized. Unplug the power cord or disconnect the device from all power sources and secure it against being turned back on. Do not use high-pressure washers, harsh cleaning agents, or sharp objects!!!

After prolonged periods of inactivity, the residual current circuit breaker (RCD) may trip due to hydrophilic components. This is not grounds for a warranty claim. In this case, have the device inspected by a qualified electrician. The electronic components are maintenance-free. For carbon radiant heaters, the heating element can be replaced if necessary.

An Overview of Maintenance Tips for Infrared Heaters

  • Always turn off the device and let it cool down completely.
  • Clean the heating element and housing once or twice a year with a soft cloth.
  • For heavier soiling, use a slightly damp cloth with a mild detergent.
  • Do not use harsh cleaners, abrasives, or solvents.
  • Keep the reflectors clean to make the best use of the heat radiation.
  • Check the connection cables and plugs regularly for damage.

Special Topic: Proper Care for HeatFlare Near the Coast

Anyone using their patio heater on the North Sea, the Baltic Sea, or in other coastal regions should pay special attention to maintenance. In general, our radiant heaters are made of stainless steel and can therefore withstand the weather conditions found near the sea. In addition, our HeatFlare infrared heater is certified with the “Rostfrei” label. However, there are still important considerations regarding salty air. Salty air can accumulate on the tubes, reflectors, and metal surfaces, leading to corrosion or a loss of performance over time.

Here's how to protect your patio heater from salt buildup:

  • Clean the tubes and reflectors regularly with a dry or slightly damp, lint-free cloth or a microfiber duster.
  • Remove salt deposits promptly before they become encrusted.
  • Use breathable protective covers during extended periods of non-use.
  • Be sure to use mild cleaning products.

It is especially important to keep the tubes and reflectors clean, as salt deposits can reduce heat dissipation and shorten the service life of the components.

With consistent maintenance, infrared heaters remain effective and visually appealing even near the coast.

Cleaning and Maintaining the AirSlide

The AirSlide sliding roof window also benefits from a seasonal maintenance check.

After fall and winter, dirt, dust, and environmental residue often accumulate on the glass. Clean the glass surfaces with standard glass cleaners. Painted surfaces should be cleaned exclusively with mild cleaning agents! For special colors, we recommend testing the cleaning agent on an inconspicuous area—such as the inside of the engine cover—before use.

Regularly remove dirt and debris from the brush seals, as well as leaves and other debris from behind the cover. Also, carefully clean the slide bearings with a damp cloth.

Do not use mechanical or abrasive objects for cleaning. Also, make sure that electrical components such as the rain sensor, wind sensor, and control unit do not come into contact with cleaning agents or moisture.

For the AirSlide Solar model, the solar module should be cleaned regularly with a soft cloth to remove dust and dirt, ensuring optimal performance.

Tips for the AirSlide at a Glance

  • Position the window in its intended installation position.
  • Clean the glass with a mild cleaner.
  • Polish with a dry, lint-free cloth.
  • Check the guide systems and hardware.
  • Perform maintenance once or twice a year, as specified in the user manual.

Regular maintenance ensures that the roof slide window continues to operate smoothly and preserves its high-quality appearance.

Cleaning LED Lighting

Maintaining ExtremeLine LEDs is particularly easy. When used outdoors, dust, pollen, and environmental debris often accumulate on the lights during the winter months.

Cleaning with a soft cloth and a little glass cleaner is usually enough to restore the original shine.

Clean LED lights not only provide better light output, but also contribute to the high-quality overall appearance of your patio cover or outdoor space.

Cleaning the AquaTube: Ensure Water Can Drain Freely During Heavy Rain

With increasingly extreme weather conditions and heavy rainfall events, the maintenance of drainage systems is becoming more and more important.

The ExtremeLine AquaTube downspout system with an integrated rain gutter should therefore be checked regularly for debris.

Here’s what you should keep in mind
    • Remove leaves, branches, and debris from the drains.
    • Check the drains for clogs.
    • Check that the rain gutters are not blocked.
    • After fall and winter, give it a thorough cleaning.
