Ecodesign regulation - ExtremeLine is SAVE
The new, stricter Ecodesign Regulation 2024/1103 comes into force on 1.7.2025. In accordance with this regulation, electric infrared heaters must not only have integrated and supplied control components with functions such as weekly time program, operating time limit and thermostat, but must also be guaranteed for 10 years with spare part components specified by the EU.
With the Somfy io, Warema WMS, BLE and ExRemote control systems integrated into our products in conjunction with our APP control system, we easily comply with the Ecodesign Directive.
These systems are integrated directly into the ExtremeLine products and, together with the ExtremeLine APP, comply with the EU’s 2024/1103 ecodesign requirements.

You are now wondering why we at ExtremeLine and our competitors have to comply with this regulation!
Quite simply, it is due to Article 1 (3) which defines this with the following sentence:
(3. Manufacturers, importers or authorized representatives shall not consider a product to be outside the scope of this Regulation on the basis of paragraph 2 if the design, technical characteristics, intended use, advertising claims or other information accompanying the product by the manufacturer, importer or authorized representative do not sufficiently distinguish it from local space heaters subject to this Regulation.
Furthermore, closed summer gardens and conservatories in which infrared radiant heaters are installed are part of the building envelope in which this regulation applies.
The clear conclusion is therefore that this regulation must be complied with by manufacturers who provide electric heat such as infrared heat.
An exception is the use in saunas or single room heaters that are designed, tested, marketed and declared exclusively for outdoor use.
